Top 10 African webseries on YouTube

It’s spicy, it’s fresh and oh lord it’s interesting.

This list isn’t ranked in a particular order.

1. THE MEN’S CLUB

This is a Nigerian webseries that I watch on YouTube. It’s very interesting as it brings together many aspects of relationships.

The webseries takes us through the lives of four men and the relationships they have with women. It’s safe to say that when I watched this I wasn’t sure anymore who was worse between men and women. To be fair, let’s say that karma is real. If you love drama. This series is definitely made for you.

Plus there’s two women I’m absolutely in love with and it made the whole show very spicy, so shout out to Sharon Ooja and Grace Ajilore ❤️

2. FLAT 3B

I love how they start …

Flat 3B is a webseries that I’m still trying to figure out. It’s funny and mysterious at the same time. The series will be shown as a three-episode anthology, released weekly. The first episodes starts off with Nneka as she wakes up stressed and hungover in a strangers apartment, with a good looking guy. Trying to figure out how she got there and what happened she tries contacting her friend Jessica, with whom she came and quickly realized that they are locked in the flat and have no means of escaping.

3. MTV SHUGA

It’s a show that initially premiered in 2009 as part of the HIV AIDS initiative to spread awareness about STD’s and to promote safe sex and getting tested. It’s interesting to learn so much and health and to stay aware of what’s going on around us meanwhile enjoying a show about regular teens living their lives. The reason behind this webseries is noble and the scenes are well shot. A notable cast member is Lupita Nyong’o.

4. OUR BESTFRIEND’S WEDDING

I came across this series a while ago but it’s in the top 5 because I truly enjoyed it. It’s about three friends, Charles, Jade and Kemi.

Charles is a 29 year old player that doesn’t want to settle down. His mum is desperate and when he finds out that she might be sick, he buys a ring and recruits his two girlfriends to help him find the lucky bride. Turns out he might have actually known his future wife for a while …

Charming, funny and refreshing. The storyline is intriguing and the webseries is well shot.

Turns out loosing weight isn’t as easy as it sounds. Produced by Ndani TV, skinny girl in transit is a wonderful tribute to our overbearing yet over loving African mothers. 6. THIS IS IT

7. AN AFRICAN CITY

This webseries is about Nana Yaa, Sade, Ngozi, Makena and Zainab, five ghanaian women who have left the west to find the life and the love they’ve been searching for back home. I’m still looking forward to the next season. Moving back to Africa after living abroad isn’t easy, I’ve experienced it as a child and I pray that I’ll experience it as an adult, soon enough. Anyways, this webseries takes us through the realities and the struggles of moving back to Africa.

9. C’EST LA VIE

Wonderful Senegalese web series. I’m sorry but unless you speak French, this series isn’t subtitled. The webseries shows Assitan, a nurse and her new life when she gets back home. The series spreads awareness on many diseases and this is why I don’t feel like I’m wasting my time. It’s well explained and you want to know what happens next.

10. RUMOUR HAS IT

MUST WATCH. Don’t debate with me 😏.

Brought to you by Ndani TV, Rumour Has It is probably what Linda Ikeji’s life would look like if it were scripted. The webseries follows a celebrity fashion blogger : Obi Obi on her journey. As a blogger she exposes others peoples scandals, until the day she is faced with her own. If you enjoy drama, you’ll definitely enjoy this as well.

BONUS

11. EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN

The story behind this is one one of three professionals : Emma, Demola and Okoye and their struggles to conform to what is considered the norm in Nigeria 🇳🇬 and in Africa in general I’d say. All characters face challenges based on their preferences and the people they are. A wonderful discovery that I’m happy to share with you.
